The Qatar Chess Federation has officially announced the launch of its Summer Program 2026, scheduled to take place at the federation’s training center from 5 July through 30 July 2026.
Organized under the patronage of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the program will offer a diverse range of activities designed to introduce children to the fundamentals of chess while strengthening their strategic thinking and decision-making skills. The initiative forms part of the federation’s long-term vision to expand participation in chess, identify promising young talents, encourage new players to join its training center, and provide them with structured opportunities to develop their abilities in an engaging and educational environment.

According to the federation, the summer program will run over four consecutive weeks, with daily sessions taking place from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The activities are open to boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 12.
This year’s program features a wide variety of cultural, educational, and recreational workshops delivered in collaboration with several national organizations, including the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Qatar Scientific Club, the Qatar Sports for All Federation, and Hayat Plaza Mall.
Mr. Hamad Al Tamimi, Executive Director of the Qatar Chess Federation, said the decision to continue the summer initiative followed the outstanding success of last year’s edition, which attracted strong participation and generated positive engagement from attendees.
Al Tamimi noted that the federation remains committed to promoting chess culture as a key component of its long-term development strategy. He explained that the program is designed to build a solid foundation for the next generation of players while enhancing critical thinking, improving sporting skills, and boosting participants’ self-confidence.
He also highlighted that the Summer Program 2026 will be led by a team of the federation’s experienced coaches, who have prepared a structured four-week training plan for July. The program is expected to play an important role in identifying emerging talent, refining young players’ skills, and supporting their continued development within the federation’s training system.
